Description of Practice/Services Offered
Dr. Miari maintains a private practice in general adult psychiatry and reproductive psychiatry, and she works as Associate Attending Psychiatrist for the Weill Cornell Students’ Mental Health Service.
Dr. Miari’s private practice is open for consultation and treatment of anxiety and mood disorders, personality disorders, adjustment disorders, post-traumatic stress disorders, and neurotic disorders.
Dr. Miari is experienced in the use of pharmacotherapy as well as psychotherapy.
She practices in English and Italian.
Dr. Miari’s academic activities include teaching psychiatry to Weill Cornell medical students and supervising psychiatry residents and junior faculty.
Dr. Miari is a contributing member of the Women’s Mental Health Program at Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Areas of Research
Dr. Miari has studied and published on the receptor pharmacology of serotonin, benzodiazepine, and glutamate receptors, and on the role of glutamate in neurodegenerative diseases.
Professional Education
Dr. Miari trained in adult psychiatry at the Weill Cornell Medical Center, and completed psychoanalytic training at The New York Psychoanalytic Institute, where she remains an active faculty member.
She had previously trained in Neurology and obtained a post doctoral degree in neuropsychopharamacology research at Mario Negri Institute in Milan, Italy.

-1986: "Dino Alinovi" prize for best graduating medical student at Parma University Medical School.
